Short and Simple

Short and Simple

2/8/20

Hi everyone,

I had several experiences this week that were more than blog worthy. But life got busy and I was unable to flesh them out. And after my day yesterday, I realized there is really nothing I can say right now until I have more time to process it all properly. But what I can do is encourage you…

  1. You. Are. So. Worthy. You do not realize the value within you. You doubt yourself because people have taken your heart and stomped it into the pavement, twisted your words, gone after your character, spread lies, done everything in their power to hurt you and stop you from moving forward. And I need you to know that the more this happens to you, the more it means you are doing something right- sick people will come after you because they see what you cannot; your ability to change the world. And their wicked heart cannot aid you in that endeavor, so it will try to destroy you. Flip the pain on its head and take it as a compliment. Don’t give them the reaction they want. And walk away.

  2. You deserve kindness. You deserve the safety that comes with trust. You deserve to be respected. You deserve the truth. You deserve to be honored. And you should never stay somewhere that you are not.

  3. Life is hard sometimes. Okay, most of the time. Just when you think the storm is over, the biggest wave of all will hit you out of nowhere. Your patience will be tested as well as your faith. So please know that there is a purpose for every pain, a bright light at the end of every tunnel. Your character is being refined, molded, and made to be bullet proof by your trials. Never give in or sink down to the level of those against you. Rise above. You will look back one day and be incredibly grateful for holding a posture of love in the midst of seething hate. And you will come out much better for having been that way.

  4. Evil in this world desperately seeks a reaction because it cannot be sustained without it. Evil thrives by being able to witness the suffering in you that it worked so hard to create. And hear me say this: it is okay to feel pain and to feel hurts. They are not supposed to go away overnight and they won’t. BUT- you have a choice. Do you go on a mission to hurt back or a mission to heal yourself? Do you give evil the response it seeks or do you cut it off from the source and leave it to wither and die? Please, please… let it die.

  5. Give out words of life. Even when you are met with words of hate, sew hope and encouragement into the dark spaces. When people attack you, respond with grace. Hold your tongue. Put the fire out with love. Because you will always win this way.

I love you guys so much. Your support has meant the world to me. I am working on new music, reconnecting with friends, making new ones. I am healing my relationship with God and with my family. I am growing and I am learning in exponential rates as I approach graduation at the end of this semester. If you are a person of faith, please pray for me to be encouraged and strong. And if you need prayer for anything, please reach out to me and let me know. Have a great week :)

See you next Sunday,

Lexi Cummings
